Mr. Robert Napoleon Bryant of Severn, Maryland, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at the age of 92. Robert was born on December 26, 1923 in Chattanooga, Tennessee and was the son of the late Roy and Helen Bryant.

Robert graduated from Howard High in Chattanooga, TN in 1942 and enlisted in the Army, where he fought in the Rome-Arno and Northern Apennines campaigns.  He served in the military as a radio operator and was qualified as a sharpshooter on the M1 rifle.

After he received an honorable discharge from the Army in 1946 as a 1st Sergeant, Robert went on to attend Howard University graduating in 1949 with a degree in Sociology/Social Science.  He attended 2 years of Howard Divinity School.

Robert enjoyed a long career in the then Department of Health, Education and Welfare (HEW). Following his retirement from HEW in 1979, he worked for Chevron-Gulf Oil as a Station & Supplies Warehouse Manager for 13 years.

Robert loved bowling, tennis, ping pong, cooking and working. He was an avid sports fan, cheering for the Baltimore Orioles and the Washington Redskins. Robert was very social and in his retirement years, really enjoyed meeting religiously with his friends at Dunkin Donuts and the Golden Corral on a weekly basis.  He also loved visiting with his neighbors on the court and was affectionately known as “Mr. Bob.”

Robert is survived by his loving children, Duane (fiancée Jai), Rob, Lisa and Jan; four cherished grandchildren, Christina, David, Kailyn and Nia; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents Robert was preceded in death by his dear wife Hallie and two brothers, LeRoy Bryant and Raymond Bryant.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 22, 2016 from 10:00am to 11:00am at the Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. 1411 Annapolis Road Odenton, Maryland 21113 where a funeral service will begin at 11:00am. Interment services will follow at Maryland Veterans Cemetery Crownsville, Maryland.
