Reinhard Schmidt, born May 10, 1958 in Wilnsdorf, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, died on November 3, 2015 at the Prince George's Hospital Center in Cheverly, Maryland as a result of injuries from a motorcycle accident. He is survived by his wife of 21 years and soulmate of 31 years, Heidi Christ-Schmidt, and his two beloved dogs (the girls), Roo and Bonnie. Reinhard was a very good-hearted person, an excellent drummer and musician, an avid stamp collector, and loved to ride his motorcycle. He advocated against cruelty to animals and human beings and could not tolerate injustice and bigotry. He thoroughly enjoyed socializing with his friends all across the world, either in person or by social media. He is sorely missed, and his passing has left the world short of one well-loved person. His father, Werner Schmidt, his sisters, Ingrid Groth and Karola Ruehl, and nephews, nieces, and cousins in Germany will hold a small service there. No formal funeral service is planned in the United States. He would instead encourage friends to gather informally and remember the fun times together. Should anyone want to do something in his memory, please consider a donation to the NoVa Rottweiler Rescue, PO Box 1777, Germantown, MD 20875 (www.md-novarotties.org) or to the National Congress of American Indians, 1516 P St. NW, Washington, DC, 20005 (www.ncai.org). Thank you.
