Radha V. Iyer

Radha V. Iyer a resident of Ellicott City, MD, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2011 at Howard County General Hospital in Columbia, MD. She was 95.

Born in Kodaikanal in Tamil Nadu, India, Radha came to Baltimore in 1975 with her husband Natesa Venkatarama Iyer, a retired insurance executive. She stayed with her eldest son Bala Subramanian at Roland Park in Baltimore, MD. Her passion was in the kitchen, cooking up masterful South Indian dishes that friends and family would come from all over to savor. She was a beloved mother figure to many in the Indian community in Maryland.
She was also a devout Hindu, spending her mornings completing her daily prayers. Her favorite prayer was Lalitha Sahasranamam in Sanskrit.

She is survived by her four children- Bala Subramanian, Karpagam Sundaresan, Kalyani Vijayan, and Giridhar Iyer. Radha is also the proud grandmother of Sujatha, Sarita, Sandhya, Subash, Prakash, Vijay and Devi and great grandmother of 7. Her caring, compassion and love will be very much missed by her family and friends and in particular by her daughter-in-law Kamala Subramanian.
