Minnie Townsend answered her Heavenly Father’s call to come home on August 17, 2022. She was born on September 19, 1943 in Maxton, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Bertha Cusaac-Townsend and Walter Townsend.
Minnie relocated to Bayshore, NY in 1962 after graduating from R.B. Dean High School in Maxton, NC. Her next move was Wyandanch, NY where she raised her family and worked for an Electric company, also as a Home Health Aide for Suffolk County and retired from the Food Service Department of Wyandanch Public School. She was an active member of the Mount Moriah F.B.H. Church of God for 31 yrs.
June of 2006, she retired and relocated for the last time to Maryland where her two daughter’s reside. In 2007 she became a member of the Metropolitan United Methodist Church and loved singing on the choir and serving the Lord. Her most memorable hobbies were “Card Making” and sewing. Her favorite activity was playing/ teaching “Kings in the Corner”, bowling, family gatherings and socializing with her friends from O’Malley Senior Center and AARP.
Minnie was also preceded in death by one daughter: Marietta L. Welch, four brothers: June, Nathaniel, Julius, and Charles Townsend, two sisters: Catherine Owens and Bertha Mae Townsend, one nephew: John Townsend
Minnie leaves to cherish her memory two daughters: Denna Townsend and Theodora Factory. One brother: Bill Townsend, six grandchildren: Shamel, Shariece, Dionna, Nicole, Shelby, Rahdae, four nieces: Sandra, Gloria, Kathy, Diane, 2 nephews: Michael and Omar, five great- grandchildren and a host of cousins.
