Mildred Virginia Gable Gardner
March 21, 1921 — February 24, 2013
Mildred Virginia (Gable) Gardner, 21 March, 1921 - 24 February 2013, of congenital artery disease.
Born in Hanover, Maryland to Charles V. Gable and Augusta (Ray) Gable (Clark). She was preceeded in death by her parents, her husband of 36 years, Stewart S Gardner Sr. and her brother Vernon Gable and sister Willa Gable. She is survived by her five children: Stewart S. Gardner Jr., William C. Gardner, Mildred V. Zipay, Robert D. Gardner, and Margaret R. Armiger, seven grandchildren: Cindy Fox, Dave Gardner, Michael Gardner, Andy Zipay, Gina Hensley, Kaitlyn Gardner, and Devyn Gardner, and six great grandchildren: Ritchie Fox, Lane Fox, Chloe Gardner, Nicholas Gardner, Caroline Hensley, and Emily Owen.
Mildred was a homemaker until she became a substitute teacher from 1963 to 1974 in five Anne Arundel County Schools, grades 1 - 12. In 1975 she became a teacher's aide in the Science Department at LinHill Middle School. She retired in 1980 from VoTech and then substituted again until 1985.
She lived in the home built in Linthicum by her husband for 63 years (1941-2004). Her hobbies included sewing, painting, computer games and square dancing with her partner Milford Adams.
At her request there is not to be a viewing. She has been cremated by Donaldson Funeral Home in Odenton. In liew of flowers the family requests donations to the Linthicum Heights United Methodist Church at 200 School Lane, Linthicum, MD 21090.
