On June 25, 2023, Michael Rushanan passed away peacefully at his home in Odenton, Maryland. He was cared for and loved by his entire family during his illness.
On Thanksgiving day, 1932, Michael was born and raised in Duncott, Pennsylvania and was the son of the late John and Anna (Biletz) Rushanan. He had seven brothers and four sisters. In his youth, he worked for his father’s coal mines until he joined the Army after high school. He was stationed in Germany (twice), Maryland, Alabama and New Jersey. After his military career, he was employed by the Department of Defense, held multiple managerial positions across many different disciplines, and retired after 35 years of service. He was a member of the Meade Rod and Gun Club and a member and usher at St. Joseph Church, Odenton.
Michael loved celebrating the holidays and birthdays with his family. He was the ultimate outdoorsman who enjoyed nature, hunting, and fishing. He was honored to serve in the U.S. Army, where he found a sense of purpose and accomplishment in protecting and defending his country. As a devout Catholic, he attended church every Sunday and relied on God’s teachings to make the right decisions in life. Above all, he loved his wife and was extremely proud of all his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
