Mary "Chris" Morr was born in Xenia, Ohio on June 16, 1922 to her parents, Howard Uriah Paullin and Hattie Susan Ritenour Paullin, of Grape Grove, Ohio.
Known to many as "The Buckeye Lady", Chris was raised in Dayton, Ohio. She was a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan, a teacher in three Ohio cities, an Ohio State University student teacher instructor, and travel counselor for the State of Ohio Travel and Tourism Department. Chris used her creative talent to promote the state of Ohio, designing an Ohio State Seal crewel stitched pillow, an Ohio Sampler in counted cross-stitch and a watercolor composite of Ohio's 33 leaves. Her seasonal Ohio leaf painting is a part of the Ohioana Library collection in Columbus.
Always active in her community, Chris was a leader in organizations such as Delta Gamma Sorority Mother's Club, garden clubs, civic, service and church organizations. Her sense of humor, favorite credo of "doing good" and love of people, touched the lives of all who knew her.
Over the past few years, Chris resided at Trillium Place, in Columbus, where she continued her desire to contribute, by creating a trillium flower watercolor for their greeting cards, participating on the resident council and giving presentations on places to see and things to do in the state of Ohio.
Chris was a wonderful mother. She claimed that the greatest experience of her life was the enjoyment of raising her three children, Susan Morr Portis, John Morr, and Nancy Morr Carnahan. Married to Fred Edward Morr for 28 years, they lived in Cincinnati, Grape Grove, Xenia and Worthington.
Chris is survived by her former husband, two children, four grandchildren, one great grandchild, three nieces and four nephews. She is preceded in death by her son, John, and her brother, Robert.
