Mark Michael Helba passed away from pancreatic cancer on December 29, 2017 in Loudon County, Virginia.  He was was born in Weirton, West Virginia in 1958 to John and Julia Helba.

He leaves behind his wife Cynthia; two daughters, Kinsey and Madeleine; mother, Julia Helba; son-in-law Joshua; brother Richard and his wife Mary Jo; nephew Lucas; niece Sara; and great-nieces Jessica and Rylee.

Mark was a graduate of Weir High School and West Virginia University. He spent his career defending our country, working for the Central Intelligence Agency for 30 years. Mark also served in the Army Reserve. He was a member of St. Mark's Orthodox Church in Bethesda, MD; an avid fisherman; a member of the Izaak Walton League; a longtime French and Indian War reenactor; and a former Girl Scout troop leader. He enjoyed nothing more than sitting on the beach and watching the waves with his family and his dogs. Donations can be made in his name to the St. Mark's Outreach Committee and the Loudon County Izaak Walton League.

The family will receive friends at St. Mark Orthodox Church, 7124 River Road, Bethesda, MD 20817 on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. A  Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am. Interment will take place on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 10:00 am, St. Nicholas Cemetery, Weirton, WV.
