Marion Vecchiarelli Profile Photo

Marion Hogan Vecchiarelli passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on July 1, 2026. Marion was born on June 5, 1943 in Manchester, New Hampshire, the fifth child of Joseph and Dorothy Hogan. The Hogan family relocated to Hyattsville, Maryland when Marion was four years old. She graduated from St. John the Baptist De La Salle parochial school in Chillum and Regina High School in Hyattsville.

Marion married John Vecchiarelli on May 12, 1962. Marion and John settled in Silver Spring, Maryland to raise their family. Marion was employed as a clerk for the FBI Fingerprinting office before dedicating herself to raising her girls. Marion was very involved with her daughters’ schools and activities. She was an accomplished seamstress and adored sewing. Marion sewed all of her girls’ clothing, which were truly made with love. Marion was very active in her parish church community, first St. Michael the Archangel in Silver Spring, and later St. Mark the Evangelist in Hyattsville. Marion loved spending time at the beach with her family, especially Ocean City, Maryland. When her girls were older, she returned to the workforce at So Fro Fabrics. She was later employed at Traveling Tutors before eventually retiring from her position as an administrative assistant at the National Archives and Records Administration in College Park. Marion and John enjoyed traveling in their later years and made many happy memories throughout their marriage.

Marion is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, John; her three daughters, with whom she shared a close relationship, Laura Westermann (Kirk), Lisa Duncan (Steve), Julie Ryan (Steve); and her grandchildren Patrick Rheault, Emily Rheault, Michael Prosperi, John Prosperi, Marina Prosperi and Riley Duncan. Marion is also survived by three of her seven siblings, Cyrillus Hogan, Dorothy Bradford and Patricia Becker (Paul) and many nieces and nephews.
