Margaret E. (Smith) Hunt

Margaret E. Hunt, a resident of Bowie and previously of New Carrollton, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 25, 2021 at the age of 77.

She was born in Washington, DC on November 10, 1943 to the late Dudley and Calsie Smith.

Margaret was a loving and devoted wife of 56 years to Barry B. Hunt; dearly loved mother of Brian (Susan) Hunt, Debbie (Mike) Spears, and Kevin (Angie) Hunt; cherished and adored grandmother of Danny (Tanya) Hunt, Joey Hunt, Matt Spears, Megan Spears, Sarah Spears, Kaylee Michael, Shawn Michael and Jack Michael and precious great-grandmother of Jesse Hunt.  She was predeceased by her brother Warren Smith.  Margaret is also survived by many other loving family members and dear friends.

For many years Margaret worked with her husband in his Accounting practice.  She was an active member of the Riverdale Baptist Church her entire life, becoming a member at the young age of 7.  She coached and played softball with her husband and the Riverdale Women’s Church league for over 25 years.   Margaret was also a member of the Riverdale Duckpin Bowling league and enjoyed playing scrabble and solving crossword puzzles.  She was a very talented pianist and singer and was especially fond of her church hymns.  Many family concerts were held creating magical moments that we all hold close to our hearts.

She was also a strong competitor and enjoyed swimming, Ladies league volleyball as well as playing horseshoes, croquet and volleyball with her family at their Beach home.  Many summertime memories were made at Bethany Beach, DE with her family, friends and the dogs including family reunions and lazy pontoon boat rides to catch the sunsets on the Indian River Bay.  Her entire family will treasure those memories forever.

We share with you that every day that goes by since Margaret went to be with the Lord, we get more stories from friends, family and others that she so deeply touched.  It seems that over many years while everyone else was having light-hearted holiday and family get-together conversations, Margaret was quietly changing lives.   She was listening and following the Lord, at every opportunity, to seek out the one person that might have been a little down on their luck, new to the family, or struggling with a problem.  We all knew that Margaret used every opportunity to share her Testimony, but it took her moving on to be with the Lord for us to truly appreciate and realize the magnitude of what she was doing while here on earth.  We Thank You Margaret, lives will be forever impacted by your love for God and your purpose driven life.
