Margaret A. Dehn

November 11, 1932 — August 14, 2010

Margaret Antoinette Merullo Dehn, known as "Peggy" to friends and
family across the country, died peacefully, surrounded by her family
in her home in Odenton, Maryland on Saturday, August 14, 2010 of lung
cancer. Peggy was born in Watertown, Massachusetts on November 11,
1932. Peggy attended Watertown High School and was particularly proud
of winning the shorthand pin while there. She worked as a secretary
at Raytheon until her marriage to William "Bill" Dehn in 1957. Her
husband's long naval career meant frequent moves for their growing
family. Peggy had a knack for making anyplace home and collected many
friends from Jacksonville, Florida and Honolulu, Hawaii to Oxon Hill,
Maryland and Kodiak, Alaska. She spent many happy years in retirement
in Merrimack, New Hampshire and later in Odenton, Maryland.

Peggy loved games, whether it was nickel slot machines, poker or Super
Mario Brothers. She played every known board game and she played to
win. An avid crossword puzzler, she was still doing the Sunday puzzle
each week in ink even after recovering from several strokes. She was
known at the Odenton Senior Center as "The Puzzle Lady". Peggy was
the type of person who excelled at everything she tried. She made
hundreds of loaves of zucchini bread each summer, shipping them to
family across the country. An avid knitter, she made coveted and
warm "Nana slippers."

Peggy will be missed by her large extended family. She is survived by
her daughter Barbara Dehn, son-in-law John Alfano and grandson,
Giancarlo Alfano of Los Altos, California; her son Robert Dehn,
daughter-in-law Linda and their children, Michael, Kristen and Brian
of Arnold, Maryland; her son James Dehn, daughter -in-law Corinne and
their children, Billy, Jeremy and Margot of Hollywood, Maryland; her
granddaughter Erica Dehn Laven and her husband Dan Laven of
Enterprise, Alabama; her brothers Eugene and Richard Merullo both of
Watertown, Massachusetts. She was pre-deceased by her father, Eugene
Merullo, her mother Mabel Fontana Merullo, and her husband, William
Dehn.

Peggy's life will be honored at a memorial service at Donaldson
Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. 1411 Annapolis Road in Odenton, Maryland on
