Rita, 71, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 from complications of cancer. She was born on March 15, 1942 in Crosshouse, Scotland and grew up in Irvine, Scotland. She came to the United States at the age of 24 to be a governess for a family in Vermont and ended up in Washington, D.C. She met her husband Richard "Dick" during the riots in Washington, D.C. and they married on August 7, 1971. Rita and Dick live in Gambrills, Maryland at the Village at Waugh Chapel West.
Rita was much admired and loved. A self proclaimed "energizer bunny" she will be remembered for doing anything for anyone and always putting others ahead of herself. Her greatest love was her family and more recently being a Granny to her grandchildren.
She worked as the Director of Meetings and Membership for Utilities Telecommunications Council in Washington, D.C. until she retired in 1996. To stay active she worked for many years at the Hallmark in the Village at Waugh Chapel and was the Chair of the Activities Committee in her 55+ community at Village at Waugh Chapel West.
Preceding her in death was her mother and father, James and Rita Bond.
Rita is survived by her husband, Dick; daughter, Heather Dwight and her husband, Brandon, son, Scott Clark and his wife, Calli, daughter, Tammy Christian and her husband, Liam Doheny; step-son, Richie Clark and his wife, Sue; her seven grandchildren and one on the way; her brother and sister-in-law, Allan and Margaret Bond; cousins, Bobby and Moira Bond, Libby and Jim Bryson and Anne Barty in the United Kingdom.
The family will receive visitors at the Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 1411 Annapolis Road, Odenton, MD 21113 on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. -4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. A celebration of Rita's life will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at 11:00 a.m.
