Madhukar Panachand Sheth

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Madhukar Panachand Sheth on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at 1:39am after a long struggle with terminal illness. The result of multiple strokes claimed the life of our beloved father, husband, brother, and friend. Madhukar is survived by his wife Priti Sheth, his daughters Nisha Sheth, Raveena Sheth, Sonya Sheth Rath and son-in-law, Kaushik Rath.

Madhukar was born on December 20th, 1951 in Aden, Yemen to Panachand and Taramani Sheth and was the fourth eldest of nine siblings. He lived in several countries, but mainly in the United Kingdom and the United States. Madhukar and his wife, Priti, eventually followed in the family’s footsteps by starting an Indian jewelry and clothing store in Silver Spring, MD over 30 years ago. The business quickly become a staple in the local South Asian community and it remains so.

Throughout his life, he had a thirst for knowledge and a keen interest in world events –he loved to discuss these topics for hours on end with anyone willing to engage. Although he was never able to fulfill his dream of becoming a pilot, his love for learning about other cultures compelled him to travel to many places around the world. Many described him as a genuine and supportive man, with an insatiable curiosity and a great sense of humor. In fact, he often laughed at his own jokes, even if no one else did.

He lived a humble and religious life supporting various Hindu organizations and was a firm believer of the mantra “treat others the way you would like to be treated,” and for accepting people for who they are. The Hindu faith is centered around reincarnation, the belief that when someone dies, the soul is reborn in a different form. Madhukar left us all too early but we are comforted in knowing that he is no longer suffering or in pain, and that he will be back on earth in a new vessel. Om Shanti.
