Lydia Boyd

On July 29, Lydia Boyd, surrounded by her family, went home to be with the Lord. Born in Germany on March 9, 1939, to Hans and Martha Keussen-Treutler.  Later, she met Robert Boyd, the handsome Army officer stationed in Germany. After almost 10 years stationed in Germany, the Army moved them to Gambrills, Maryland, in 1979, where Lydia lived until her passing. Robert and Lydia were married for 49 years until his passing in 2017.

Lydia was a member of Our Lady of the Fields Catholic Church in Millersville and the NCO E-9 Association, along with her husband. Lydia loved family and especially children.  Her caring nature led her to become a daycare provider and she loved receiving cards from her former children long after they were grown and started families of their own.  Lydia also enjoyed traveling and playing Bunco.

She is survived by her loving children; Daniela Loewe (late husband Harold), Andrea Herndon (husband Bobby), Brigitte Schoolden (husband Gary), Torsten Boyd, Michael Boyd (wife Debbie) and Leona Lavin (husband Joe). She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren (with one on the way!).

A funeral service will be held at Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. (in Odenton) on Sunday, December 15th at 2:00 PM.

Burial at Arlington National Cemetery will take place on December 18th at 9:00 AM.
