Lorraine Dereef Allen

Our beloved Lorraine D. Allen (Suggas) 72, of Odenton, MD went home to be with the Lord on February 1, 2011 at the Baltimore Washington Medical Center, in Glen Burnie, MD.

Lorraine was born March 6, 1938, at Morrison Hospital, Bronx NY to the Late Sarah and Delaney Norman. She graduated from Foundling Hospital Nursing School, Bronx, NY.

On November 5, 1960, she married her best friend and soul-mate Richard Allen, Sr. Lorraine traveled several years with her husband in the Air Force, and in 1973 they settled in Odenton MD. Lorraine worked for the D.C. Government until her retirement in 1995.

Lorraine was an ordained Minister and most recently became a member of Fountain of Life Ministries, in Baltimore, MD and worked with various charities. One of her many interests included song-writing and she devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver and spiritual guide to her family, friends and community.

Lorraine leaves her husband of 50 years, Richard Allen, Sr., her brother Joseph Norman and sister-in-law Joyce Norman; daughter Tracie Allen, and her husband Carson L. Allen, Jr.; son Richard Allen Jr. and his wife Reena Allen; two beautiful grandchildren Derrick Batts and Da'Cota Allen-Ward; and a host of other family and friends.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, February 8, 2011 from 5:00 to 8:00pm at Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. 1411 Annapolis Road Odenton, MD. A Home Going Service will be held Wednesday, February 9, 2011, 11:00am at Full Gospel Emancipation Life Center 8232 Redmiles Lane, Odenton, MD. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens.
