Lois Marie McGee (née Luchi) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, in Annapolis, Maryland. She was 90 years old.
Lois died at home in Ginger Cove after a long and determined effort to recover from complications from a heart attack earlier in the year. She was surrounded by family throughout her illness and at the moment of her passing. She met every challenge-as she had throughout her life-with remarkable strength, resilience, and grace.
Born in Conyngham, Pennsylvania, in 1935, Lois grew up in nearby Hazleton, where she met the love of her life, Jack. They married in 1953 and eventually settled in Laurel, Maryland, where they raised seven children. After retiring to Conyngham to care for her mother, Edna, Lois and Jack later made their home in Annapolis to remain close to their family.
Lois was a gifted and adventurous cook, equally at home preparing a traditional family meal as she was crafting elaborate Chinese New Year feasts-one of many beloved family traditions. She was a professional baker, a skilled crafter, and a talented pianist. Her energy and talent also made her an indispensable administrator at both Laurel High School and her church community in Conyngham.
Family was the heart of Lois's world. The walls of her home overflowed with photographs of those she cherished. She is survived by six children, eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, devoted in-laws, and a wide circle of extended family and friends whose lives were brightened by her warmth. She was the last surviving matriarch of a large and loving family spread across the United States.
In death, Lois is reunited with her beloved husband, Jack, and their young son, Kevin, along with all the loved ones who went before her.
Visitation hours will be held from 6-8pm on Tuesday, December 16 at Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. at 1411 Annapolis Rd, Odenton, MD 21113. A Catholic Mass will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, December 17 at Holy Family Catholic Church at 826 West Central Avenue, Davidsonville MD 21035
In honor of Lois's fondness for the color pink, the family kindly invites attendees to wear pink to her service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the American Heart Association and the National Kidney Foundation.
