Lillian B. Sjovold

Lillian Benedikte Mitchell was born on April 6, 1925 to Charles Mitchell Sr and Johanna Sjovold (pronounced sher-vold) in Hicksville New York. She married Clyde Martin in 1952 and they divorced in 1960 , she did not  remarry.   She changed her last name to her mother's maiden name Sjovold.  On March 24, 2023, she passed away peacefully at the age of 97.  Beloved mother of Diane Burishkin and Denice Grove, Nathan, Ronnie, and Gary Martin; cherished grandmother of nine, and great grandmother of three. She was predeceased by her younger brother Charlie Mitchell and his wife Francis Mitchell,  also by her niece Johanna Loiodice.

Lillian worked for the commissioned personnel operations division (CPOD) for the government for over 25 years.  She was a member of the Takoma Park Baptist Church. In addition to being an accomplished pianist, and enjoying listening and watching show music such as "Man of La Mancha", Lillian also enjoyed knitting, needlepoint, and having lunch with her former co-workers. Most especially, she enjoyed spending time with her family and spoiling her dogs.

Lillian will be buried next to her parents at Roslyn Cemetery in Long Island, New York, on April 10th at 2:00 PM.
