On January 30, 2017, Lester Luke Deemer of Severn, age 78, passed away at BWMC. Born in Brookville, PA, he was the son of the late Harold and Emily Thrush Deemer. Beloved husband of 50 years to the late Kathleen M. Conway. He is survived by his brother, James L. Deemer and his wife Polly of P.A., sister Carol Cook and her husband Al; sister-in-law Elizabeth A. Conway of Gaithersburg; his sons Michael J. Deemer and his wife Olga of Potomac and Stephen L. Deemer and his wife Stacey of Finksburg; and his two cherished grandsons Stephen and Andrew Deemer. He was predeceased by his eldest son David W. Deemer and his siblings C. Thomas Deemer, Marlin “Jake” Deemer, Lois Barletta and Doris Galbreath.
Semi-retired, Luke worked as a Quality Control Consultant for Evans Associates of Greenbelt, but had worked for numerous companies in the aerospace field, including General Electric, Sperry, UNISYS, and Fairchild; for over 50 years. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1956 to 1959. He was an active member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Odenton and at the Pascal Senior Center in Glen Burnie. He was an Assistant Scoutmaster and Adult Leader in Boy Scout Troop and Explorer Post 1267. He was part of the National Capital Area Council’s Patuxent District Training Team and a graduated the Wood badge Training Course (Sly Old fox). Luke enjoyed building and working on computers, photography, NASCAR, and mentoring young Engineers and Quality Control Engineers.
