Leocadia (Monge) Dimmick

Odenton resident Leocadia “Cayita” Dimmick died peacefully on December 10, 2023 of natural causes.

Mrs. Dimmick was born on October 3, 1945 to Jose Monge Marquez and Aurora N. Robertin de Monge.

She graduated in 1972 with a BA in Literature. After graduation, she worked as a schoolteacher in St. Louis, MO. In 1981, she graduated with a BS in Accounting. After graduation, she worked for the US Army as an auditor until her retirement in 2018. She received multiple achievement awards during her career.

She was a cat enthusiast, owning many cats in her lifetime. She supported many charities involved in rescuing animals and wildlife preservation. She had a great love for reading and knowledge, always encouraging those around her to continuously read and expand their knowledge. She also loved storytelling, thrifting, and nature. She also enjoyed camping. However she can be most remembered by her love of laughter and desire to enjoy life to its fullest capacity.

Mrs. Dimmick was married to Ralph F. Ellis II, they had three children. In 1987, she met her second husband Joseph Dimmick at a church meeting and they married in 1988. He brought two children from a previous marriage into the family. They were married 32 years before he preceded her in death in 2020.

Leocadia is survived by her children Ralph F. Ellis III (Melissa) of Severna Park, MD; Jessica L. Ellis Shipley (Richard) of Gambrills, MD; Glenn A. Ellis (Carly) of Chester, VT and stepchildren J. Scott Dimmick (Lisa) of Jeffersonville, MD; Tracy L. Willis of Crofton, MD. She is also survived by ten grandchildren: Patrick, Aurora, Gustavo, Liam, Leopold and Theodore Ellis; Ava and Ella Dimmick, Morgan and Sadie Willis.  She is also survived by her sister Maria del Carmen Bishop of Texas, her brother Jose M Monge of Puerto Rico and their children. She is also survived by her cats Beck, Fuzzy, Henry, and Kalista.
