Lawrence Lee Norkus, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026, in Crownsville, Maryland. Born on August 25, 1936, in Davenport, Iowa, Lawrence lived a life rich with love, service, and devotion to his family and country.

A proud veteran of the Air Force, Lawrence exemplified the dedication and honor that comes with serving his nation. His commitment to his country mirrored the profound love he had for his family, creating a legacy that will endure through the generations.

Lawrence is cherished by his devoted wife, Carol Norkus, who stood by his side through life’s joys and challenges. Together, they nurtured a close-knit family that flourished under their guidance. Lawrence’s spirit lives on in his three children, Steven, Dave, and Cindy Norkus, who have inherited his strength and kindness.

As a grandfather of eight and great-grandfather of five, Lawrence took immense pride in each of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His laughter and gentle heart will be deeply missed, but his stories and the values he instilled will remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

He is preceded in death by his father, Peter Norkus, and his mother, Phyllis Proksch. Though they are no longer together in this life, they are surely welcoming him with open arms.

The community is invited to honor Lawrence's memory during a visitation on March 10, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. in Odenton, Maryland. Additional services will take place on March 17, 2026, with interment at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville at 1:00 PM.

The family invites friends to join them in celebrating Larry's life starting at 5:30 pm at the home of Dave Norkus, 645 Highland Farms Circle, Gambrills, MD 21054.

Lawrence Lee Norkus will forever be remembered for his unwavering love, his service to his country, and the profound impact he made on the lives of those around him. His legacy of compassion and resilience will continue to inspire all who knew him.
