Larry Staley Branson

Larry was born in Sharon, Mississippi on April 24, 1950 to James and Lennie Branson. He departed this life on Sunday, January 23, 2011 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center, Glen Burnie, MD. He was the oldest of six children born to that union. The family moved to Lorain, Ohio in 1961 where he received the majority of his education. Larry was a 1968 graduate of Lorain High School. An excellent High School Wrestler, he competed and achieved 3rd in the State of Ohio during his senior year.

In 1971 Larry joined the United States Army. While stationed in the Panama Canal he met and married his wife of 36 years Enelda Lino. To that union was born their daughter, Nisha. His tours in the US Army took him to Panama, Germany, Korea and many places within the United States.
Soon after retirement from the Army, Larry traded one uniform for another and joined another brotherhood in 1994, the Anne Arundel Police Department where he served as a Booking Officer. He retired from the Anne Arundel Police Department in May, 2010.

His mother, Lennie and granddaughter, Ashley, preceded Larry in death. He is survived by his wife, Enelda, daughter; Nisha (Thomas); father Reverend
James Branson (Mary); four sisters; Beverly, Judy (David), Lovie and Delores; stepsister, Omolara; three brothers, Stanley (Wanda), Dannie (Brenda) and James (Ashley); stepbrother, Richard; three grandchildren; Brandon, Sam and Isaac; six nieces; April, Patrice, Lene, Chastity, Chyna, and Jade; two nephews, Jamal and Isaiah; a special sister, Joan and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and all around true friends.

The family will receive friends at the Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 1411 Annapolis Road, Odenton, MD 21113 on Monday, January 31, 2011 from 10 am to 11 am. Funeral Services will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel from 11:00 am to 12:15 pm. Interment will follow at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, MD.
