Lakhram Shivgopaul

Lakhram Shivgopaul, also known as Lake, had a wonderful life. Lake was a humble person and made a positive and significant impact on many people’s lives.

Lakhram Shivgopaul was born on August 6, 1944 in Crabwood Creek, Guyana, South America. He lived with his parents and siblings, graduated from high school and worked as a school teacher before leaving Guyana. In the year of 1969, Lake immigrated to the United States of America. Lake’s parents, Seegopaul and Tetri, were excited yet apprehensive to send their son to America. Upon arrival, Lake resided in Washington D.C. with his older cousins. During this time, Lake had worked several jobs to fulfil his wish of becoming established; for him, it meant to be able to support himself and be able to further his education.

Years later, Lakhram Shivgopaul achieved his wish when he graduated at Howard University with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. After graduation, Lake became a Certified Public Accountant, CPA, where he continued to work to support himself, along with his close nieces and nephews, who just immigrated to the United States. During this time, he grew close to his nieces and nephews and ensured that they were on the correct path of success.

Upon retirement, Lake moved to Florida where he became a Pastor and established his own Christian church named Christians United for Jesus Inc.

Lake was kind and soft spoken. Lake was blessed to have a large and loving family, along with a supportive community. He truly believed this because he put his family first, and try to assist any individual as best as he could. He always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small.

In his leisure time, Lake enjoyed spending time with family and friends, followed sports such as wrestling and football, and watched old time comedies. In addition, Lake loved to read his Bible and participate in services for the community.

Unfortunately, on May 13, 2022 at the age of 77, Lake suddenly passed away. He was predeceased by his parents Seegopaul and Tetri. In addition to his siblings, Jinarain also known as “Buck”, Galo, Gull, Krish, and Danraj. Lakhram survived by his siblings Sheila, Leila, Jagdish also known as Jagbai, and Batie. In addition, Lake survived by 14 nieces and nephews, along with 19 grandchildren.

Lakhram Shivgopaul, thank you for being a part of our lives. We are all going to miss you, but you will forever be in our hearts.
