Kirk Forrest
Miller
Jan 13, 1961 — Sep 29, 2026
January 13, 1961 – September 29, 2026
Kirk Forrest Miller, of Odenton, Maryland, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2026, at the age of 65.
Kirk was a devoted son, father, brother, and uncle. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sally Miller. He is survived by his father, Edward Miller; his son, Mark Miller; his siblings, Chris Miller, Kim Altman, and Kelly Fleshman; and his beloved nieces and nephews, Jessie Altman, Zach Fleshman, and Aidan Fleshman.
For more than 30 years, Kirk dedicated his professional life to Lockheed Martin, where he worked as a Software Quality Engineer. His long career reflected his intelligence, work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to his work. He also played soccer for the University of Maryland and was a soccer coach for his son when he was young.
Outside of his career, Kirk found enjoyment in the simple things that brought him happiness. He was an avid reader with his favorite series being The Wheel of Time. He also enjoyed watching movies and playing strategy/puzzle games. He had a particular fondness for science fiction and fantasy, with The Lord of the Rings and Star Wars among his favorite films. He also enjoyed movies filled with music, including Pitch Perfect and Burlesque. Each year, he looked forward to a family tradition of watching the Harry Potter films with his son.
Kirk was also a passionate sports fan. He followed some UMD sports and enjoyed watching the United States National Soccer Teams compete. He was also an enthusiastic supporter of the Chelsea Football Club, proudly cheering on The Blues or sometimes yelling at them to play better defense!
Some of Kirk’s most cherished moments were shared over food and conversation with the family he loved so much. For his son, Mark, some of the fondest memories are the mornings they spent together watching English Premier League soccer, enjoying good food, and simply sharing time together. Those ordinary moments have become treasured memories that have stuck with him long after the games ended.
Kirk will be remembered for his intelligence, his interests and passions, his loyalty to the people and things he loved, and most of all, for the place he held in the lives of his family. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him. In Lieu of flowers we ask that you make a donation in his mother Sally’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association. Their dedication to ending Alzheimer’s and all other dementia through global research along with the quality care and support they offer is truly appreciated.
