On September 24, 2015, Judith “Judy” L. McBride passed away at the age of 74. A long-time resident of Annapolis, Judy lived previously in Laurel, Maryland. Beloved mother of Patrick McBride of Virginia, Cliff McBride of California, Russell McBride of Brandywine, MD, “adopted” mom of Roe Dias of Virginia and cherished grandmother to Conor, Vela, Raquel, Sean and Fortunata. Judy was predeceased by her son Noel McBride and her sister Ann Rebstock.
Judy received a BS in zoology, pursued her master’s degree in zoology and studied journalism at University of Maryland. She worked as a science writer covering food and nutrition for the U.S. Department of Agriculture until retirement. She founded the Lighthouse Hypnosis Center in Annapolis to care for the physical, mental and spiritual well being of her patients. Judy was a member of "Crabtowners" sports and events club, the Laurel Oratorio Society and performed with the Annapolis Chorale. She loved to travel the globe, enjoyed photography and remained a life-long student. She was very active and liked to bike, paddle, sail, garden and enjoyed being outdoors with family and friends. Most especially, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and visiting with our wounded warriors as a Red Cross volunteer at Walter Reed National Military Center.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her name to any of her favorite charities: www.worldvision.org; www.woundedwarriorproject.org; or www.nami.org. Thank you.
