Juanita Thompson

Juanita Thompson a resident of Odenton, MD, returned home on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at the age of 93. Juanita was born on July 22, 1928 in Washington, D.C., and is the daughter of the late James and Mae Thompson. Juanita graduated from Dunbar High school. She pursued a career in health services where she attended to the needs of clients in Washington DC. She then moved to New York and continued with her career in health services.

She was a kind and generous woman who loved the theater and the arts. Juanita especially enjoyed gifting people with her art creations. Whenever she felt inspiration, her creativity took flight bringing joy to girls with cardboard doll houses and excitement to boys with wooden gas stations. Juanita was able to take everyday items and turned them into works of art. There were even dolls made out of syrup bottles. Yes, dolls made out of syrupy bottles!!!

Painting on anything from a rock and roll record, to a rock itself. Juanita’s paintings can be seen anywhere from a doctor’s office, her local post office, the neighborhood grocery store, and even a restaurant in Pennsylvania.  In recent times one of her creations was featured in a local paper where she placed 1st in an art contest and donated the proceeds to a local charity.

Juanita is survived by her beloved daughter Vicki; loving grandchildren, Gregg his wife Janet and Stephanie; cherished great-grandchildren, Stephan, Tristan, O2, Schyler and Mally. She also leaves memories with countless nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
