In Loving Memory of Juan Agueda
Juan Agueda was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and a man whose life was marked by faith, service, and quiet generosity of spirit. He shared 56 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Carmen-affectionately known as Chiqui-after the two met while working at the National Security Agency. Their enduring partnership was the heart of their family built on love, dedication, and mutual respect.
Juan is survived by his wife Carmen; his daughters Gloriana Agueda, Emily Agueda, Johanna Agueda, and Cristina Agueda (partner David MacFarlane); and his treasured granddaughters Carley Agueda-Divens, Marlynn Harrison, Lily Agueda, and Isabela Horton. He is also survived by his sister Brigida, brother Salvi, and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, loved ones, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Francisco and Aracelis Agueda; his sisters Carmen and Asteria; and his brother Baltazar.
A man of deep faith, Juan was devoted to St. Lawrence Parish, where his commitment and presence reflected the values by which he lived-humility, service, and compassion for others. His faith was a steady guide throughout his life and a source of strength for both himself and his family.
Juan proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1961 to 1963 before beginning a distinguished 48-year career with the National Security Agency. His professional life mirrored his personal one-defined by integrity, responsibility, and steadfast dedication.
Outside of work and church, Juan found great joy in caring for his yard, a place where his patience and pride were always on display. He was a familiar and friendly presence in his neighborhood, known for a warm greeting, a helping hand, and genuine kindness. He was not just a neighbor, but a friend to all who lived around him.
Juan's legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the faith he nurtured, and the many lives he touched through his quiet generosity and steady presence. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered as a man who lived with purpose, heart, and grace.
