Josephine Hunter, beloved daughter of the late Herbert and Iler Corpening was born on October 12, 1929 in Raleigh, West Virginia.  On Saturday, January 25, 2025 she peacefully entered Heaven’s Pearly Gates at age 95. She was proceeded in death by her loving parents Herbert and Iler Corpening, Husband William, Sr. cherished brothers, William Marshall, James Edward. Charles Lewis, Roosevelt Herbert. Her loving son William Hunter Jr. and Grandson Daniel Hunter Howard.

She was educated in the Public schools of West Virginia, where she graduated from Ashtabula High School. Shortly after graduating she met her future husband and on August 31,1948 Josephine married William Hunter and from this union they had four children. William Jr., Linda, Doris, and Michole.

The family moved from West Virginia to Annapolis, Maryland in 1958 where Josephine was employed by Blue Star and Reliable Cab company as a dispatcher for over fifty years.

Granny or Noonie as she was affectionately known enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, playing solitaire and was an avid reader of mystery and horror books with an extensive library of over one hundred books. She was a proud resident of Bywater for over fifty years where everyone knew her. On any day you could find her sitting by her window, listening to her police scanner and watching everything that’s going on in the neighborhood.

Never one to mince words she would tell you where to go, what route to take and what to do when you get there. With her quick wit and vocabulary, she could teach a sailor a few words.

Granny leaves to cherish her fond memories, two Sisters Gloria Jean Gumms, Barbara Ann Brown (David) children, Linda (Joseph) Casey (Rick) Michole, Dorothy, 12 Grandchildren 27 Great-grandchildren 21 great great grandchildren. Her capacity to love was bottomless she had many ”daughters and sons of Love” Sandra Herndon, Kathleen Tongue, Ora fields, Latayna aka Mama Tiny, just to name a few. Miss Josephine, Granny, Noonie or whatever name you called her has gone on to be with the Lord but her memory will be forever etched in our hearts.

If anyone or anything was forgotten we apologize sincerely, please charge it to the head and not our hearts during this difficult time.
