John Petro

John Petro, a resident of Rockville, Maryland, returned to the grace of our Lord on July 30th, 2020. He was 90. Didi was born on October 9th, 1929 in the rolling hills of Berlin, Pennsylvania. He was the son of the late Basil and Anastacia Petro. Upon his birth he was granted one thousand words to be used during his life; he used them wisely. Dad was a Veteran and proudly served his Country during the Korean War. After serving in the Army, he married Susan and started a family in Rockville.

Dad was a professional auto body repairman whose work was deemed “perfection”. His family was never in want or need of a car. After retiring, he volunteered and worked alongside his son teaching high school students the trade.

His love of the Orthodox faith guided him to become one of the original founders of St. Mark Orthodox Church in Bethesda, Maryland. His legacy will live on through the love of his family and the life of the church.
