John Joseph Davin, Jr., “Jack”, a resident of Odenton, MD, passed away peacefully at home in the presence of his wife and children, on Wednesday, January 04, 2017. He was 63 and died after a 3 1/2 year battle with Multiple Myeloma. Jack was born on April 7, 1953 in Brighton, MA and was the son of the late John Joseph Davin and Alice Marie (White) Davin.
Jack was a smiling people pleaser who’s mission in life was to make people happy. This started at an early age with his parents and 7 younger siblings and continued on with his wife, 6 children and parish families across the country. If there was a need, he would fill it.
Jack spent 30 years as a Coast Guard Officer, followed by 10 years as a contractor or a government employee. During those 40 years, he was committed to serving and mentoring the people and clients in his workplace.
In his spare time, he enjoyed cultivating indoor plants and outdoor landscaping. Give him a sunny day, a headset connected to music or an audiobook, and he would work outside for hours. He also loved driving and sharing his California Special Mustang. You want a ride? You got it! You want to learn how to drive a manual on a new expensive powerful sportscar? Hop in! That was Jack. Faith. Family. Friends. Fun.
Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Donna Davin; six loving children, Mary Kate Brockmeyer (Matthew), Colleen Varga (Stephen), Timothy Davin (Mary), Christopher Davin, Julius Davin (Dawn) and Lauren Davin; three dear sisters and brother-in-laws, Diane Ihnat, (Dennis) Carol O’Connor and Alice Avila (Chris); four wonderful brothers and sister-in-laws-, Richard(Rose), Paul(Keil), Michael(Maureen) and Brian (Grace) Davin; four cherished grandchildren, Wyatt, Aston, Chase and Casper; and a beloved uncle of many nieces and nephews.
