John Marvin Carnell

John Marvin Carnell of Jessup, MD passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at his residence, at the age of 67.  John was born on May 1, 1947 in Johnstown, PA to Delma Josephine (Ward) Carnell and the late Thurman Howard Carnell.

John worked as an auto mechanic for decades at the former Odenton Mobil Service Station until his retirement.  He was known as being “honest”, and could generally tell what was wrong with your car by just listening to it.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman.  John loved his Pittsburgh teams, the “Steelers” and the “Pirates.”  Most of all he loved spending time with his cat, Finicky which he called his “Little Buddy.”

In addition to his mother John is survived by his son, John Howard Carnell; four brothers, Thurman Edward, Charles Howard, Robert Eugene and James Claude Carnell; his sisters-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews, and his extended family.  He is also survived by his longtime friend, Kennett Friddle and his former wife, Glenda Gordon.

Family and Friends will gather at the Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 1411 Annapolis Road, Odenton, MD 21113 on Sunday, January 11, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christian Assistance Program (C.A.P.) at Severn United Methodist Church, 1215 Old Camp Meade Road, Severn, MD 21144.
