Joan Marie (Walker) Orszula

Joan Orszula, aged 84, passed away on April 26, 2021 at the Charlestown Retirement Community in Catonsvillle, MD. She was born on August 19, 1936 to the late Thomas J. Walker and Margaret Walker. She was the beloved wife, of 63 years, to Borus Orszula, devoted mother of Paul Orszula (Shari Orszula) and Sharon Orszula Doolin; loving grandmother of Kenny Doolin (Katrina Doolin), Megan Doolin, Daniel Doolin, Kaitlyn Orszula and Ryan Orszula; adoring great-grandmother to Koralee Doolin, Kyle Doolin, Kayden Doolin and Ryder Doolin; doting foster mother to six foster children, including the Althea Drury, Annette Gilmer and the late Allen Richards. She is also survived by sisters Ella Mae Krum and Barbara Walker. She was predeceased by her son Stephen Orszula and her brothers Tucker Walker and Robert John.

She was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a graduate of the University of Illinois. She worked as a community correspondent for the Maryland Gazette for 20 years, and was an Education Program Specialist at Fort Meade’s Child Development Center for 12 years.

Family and friends may visit from 11am to 12pm on Tuesday, May 4 at Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 1411 Annapolis Road, Odenton. A memorial service will follow. Interment will be private.
