Janice Marie Hawkins (“Cricket”) passed away on September 2, 2016, after a brief illness. She was born on Fort George G. Meade, Maryland military base on January 20, 1970 to John & Gloria Hawkins.

Janice was a devoted social work er for 24 years.  She graduated from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in 1992; and earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland at Baltimore in 1996. She subsequently gained her Licensed Clinical Social Worker-Certified (LCSW-C) designation. She was employed at Church Home and Hospital in 1992 until she left to work for the Anne Arundel County Department of Social Services.  After serving the residents of that county she chose to work as a clinical social worker for Sinai Hospital where she was employed for 13 years.

She was a staunch supporter of community events such as the annual Sinai Hospital Save-A-Limb Ride, the Children’s Hospital Holiday party and dressed for Halloween for the children each year.

In February of 2016, Janice left Sinai Hospital to be the clinical social worker of the new Transitional Care Unit of Baltimore Washington Medical Center until her illness in April.

Janice loved to take care of others in her professional and personal life. It was her calling to do so and the joy she shared with so many will live on.

In addition to her parents, Janice is survived by three sisters: Jonna Hawkins, Joyce Hawkins and her twin sister, Janet and her fiancé, Paschal Dawson; a nephew, James Hawkins; and a host of beloved relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at the Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 1411 Annapolis Road, Odenton, MD 21113 on Thursday, September 8, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  A funeral service will be held at The Church at Severn Run, 8187 Telegraph Road, Severn, MD 21144 on Friday, September 9, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. A wake will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.  Interment will follow at Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville, MD.
