She retired from the Federal Government 1995 and the PG County Board of Education 2015
She is survived by 2 Children: Darrell Custis (Kirstie Custis), Denise Custis, 10 Grandchildren Roderick Brown, Brandon Powell, Toyashiqua Custis, Carleisha Custis, Tony Custis, Danielle Custis, Rolando Custis, Dara Custis, Demerius Custis and Kaleiya Custis and 6 Great Grandchildren, 2 Brothers: Herbert A Smothers, Jr., Andre Smothers (Marion Smothers), 1 Sister: Kimberly Jones
She is predeceased by Herbert E. Smothers, Sr. Catherine Smith Smothers Jones, Karl Jones
