James M. Wheatley

James M. Wheatley, Jr., a long time resident of Laurel and Savage, MD passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2014, at the age of 82, surrounded by his loving family.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Dorothy (Kelly) Wheatley; five loving children, Joanne (Wheatley) Graf and her husband, Philip, James Wheatley, III, Alise (Wheatley) Walters, William Wheatley and Dorothy Wheatley; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Mr. Wheatley was employed as a Master Plumber, then Pipefitter Foreman with the District of Columbia Government, Department of Human Services for 26 years, but was not ready for retirement just yet. After retirement Jim began a 10 year endeavor with the Woodland Job Corp. In his early years he served with the National Guard.

Jim was a humble, patient and spiritual man; whose kindness, integrity, honesty, love of life, family and friends came naturally to him. Consistently strong in mind and body, his sense of humor always provided a joke or story with a wink or chuckle for whatever the situation.

He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors, working, fishing, hunting and gardening. Jim remained a positive and grateful man throughout his life. He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by his family; and all that were blessed to know him.
