James “Jim” Mac May, Jr., a resident of Severn, MD, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was 71 years old. Jim was born on July 3, 1953, in Chillicothe, Ohio, and was the son of the late James Mac May, Sr. and Joan (née Buckingham) May.
Jim was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who always put his family first. He graduated from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, and worked as a certified public accountant for more than 30 years. A passionate aviation enthusiast, Jim once held a pilot’s license. He was also a dedicated fan of Ohio State University, a proud Buckeye, and an avid Civil War history buff. Jim was honored to be part of the 6th Ohio Volunteer Infantry Union reenactment unit.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Elizabeth R. May; two loving children, Sarah Herman (Michael) and Jimmy May (Chelsea); five cherished grandsons, Matthew, Mason, Jackson, Samuel, and Simon; and his devoted sister, Brenda Jean Myers.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Ilchester Road, Ellicott City, MD 21043, at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery, 3001 Spencerville Road, Burtonsville, MD 20866.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
