James Robert Burns, a resident of Crownsville, MD, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2014 at his residence, at the age of 57. Jimmy was born in Ottawa, Kansas and was the son of the late Robert Lee Burns and Lois Jean (Bulmer) Burns .
Jimmy proudly served in the US Marine Corp from 1977 to 1981. He retired from Washington Gas Light Company after 33 years. Jimmy most enjoyed spending time with his family, boating and hanging with friends. His strong commitment to family and community was inspiring to all those blessed to have known him.
Jimmy is survived by his beloved wife, Carol Lynn Burns of Crownsville, MD; son, Robert Burch and wife, Jackie of Linthicum Heights, MD; two daughters, Allison Burns of Silver Spring, MD and Caitlin Marshall and husband, Benjamin of Millersville, MD; two grandchildren, Trinity and John; brother, Dave Burns of Broken Arrow, OK; sister, Janice Ludwig of Virginia Beach, VA and numerous, nieces, nephews and in-laws. Jimmy is preceded in death by his sister, Jeanne Byrnes.
The family will receive friends at the Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 1411 Annapolis Road, Odenton, MD 21113 on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 11:00am at the South Shore Baptist Church, 725 Herald Harbor Road, Crownsville, MD 21032. Interment will follow at Maryland Veterans Cemetery Crownsville, Crownsville, MD. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Jimmy's Team@
