James Neal Baker, 92, of Gambrills, Maryland, passed away on August 29th 2026, in Annapolis, Maryland.

Born on January 20th, 1934 in Columbus, Georgia, the son of the late Margaret Lucille Hodge and James Woodrow Baker. He attended Jordan Vocational High School, where he played the French Horn and met his future wife, Jynean. After High School, he enlisted in the Navy, where he saw many parts of the world, including California, Hawaii, Japan, China, and Korea. He later worked as an office & property manager for several construction and housing companies.

Neal married Jynean Roughton in 1955, and together they shared 68 wonderful years of marriage. They eventually settled in Gambrills, Maryland, with their 3 daughters, Donna, Michele, and Andrea.

Neal had a multitude of hobbies, including photography and darkroom processing, gardening, running, playing guitar, reading, singing, dancing, and briefly flying planes. He was well known in the Four Seasons community for the Ice Rink he built every winter, his love of the Washington Redskins, and his humor.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jynean R. Baker, brother Donald H. Baker (Sara), parents Margaret Lucille Hodge and James Woodrow Baker, and Step-mother Frances Baker. He leaves behind three daughters, Donna Goldinger, D. Michele Struble (Greg Struble), and Andrea Michalski, grandchildren Robert Goldinger (Joy Goldinger), Nick Goldinger, Bethany Michalski, great-grandchildren Norma Jean, Olivia, Caleb, Liam, and Kai Goldinger, brother Eddie Adkins (Kathy), sister Sandra Lunsford and his many beloved southern family of nieces and nephews. Burial will be at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, Maryland.
