Iqbal Singh Kumar, born on September 25, 1928, in India, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2025, in Potomac, Maryland. He lived a remarkable life dedicated to public service, education, and his family.
Iqbal pursued his studies relentlessly, achieving both a Master’s degree and a Law Degree, which paved the way for a distinguished career in the Civil Service for the Government. His professional life was marked by a commitment to service and an unwavering dedication to the betterment of his community.
For 40 years, Iqbal called England his home, where he built a life rich in experiences and friendships. His time overseas greatly influenced his perspectives and values, enriching the fabric of his character.
Iqbal was known for his profound faith and religious devotion, which guided him throughout his life and shaped his relationships with those around him. He instilled these values in his family, leaving a lasting legacy of integrity and purpose.
He is survived by his beloved son, Dr. Manmohan Singh Kumar, and his wife, Dr. Kiran Kaur Kumar; devoted sister, Sukhpal Kaur Kooner; and six grandchildren: Prabhjot, Avneet, Nankee, Gurleen, Govindpal and Arjan. They carry forward the values and principles Iqbal held dear. His legacy lives on through his son and the many lives he touched throughout his lifetime.
Iqbal was preceded in death by his father, Sunder Singh Kumar and his mother, Kaur Kumar. Together, they formed the foundation of his life, nurturing his ambitions and shaping his character.
Funeral services for Iqbal Singh Kumar will be held on October 28, 2025, beginning at 11:00 AM at Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. in Odenton, Maryland. Family, friends, and all who knew him are invited to join in celebrating his life and honoring his memory.
