 
 
Hideko “Kitty” Mori Washington of Odenton, Maryland, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2017 at University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie, Maryland, at the age of 87. Kitty was born on March 4, 1930 in Gifu City, Japan to the late Shibao Mori and Tsugi Mori.
Hideko arrived in the US in the early 50’s, she worked as a tailor for many years, while raising eight children. After losing her husband in 1970, she went on to earn a BA from Bowie State College; and went to work for the Department of Defense. In 1989 she was offered a position at Camp Zama, Japan as the Chief of Non Appropriated Funds where she remained until she retired in 1999; and returned to Maryland. She remained a member of the Odenton community until her passing. Her life was blessed by family and many friends, she was a devote Catholic and loving mother.
Hideko is survived by her five children, Shirley Lorick, Harold L. Washington, Jr., Victoria Washington, Gregory Washington and Marcella Vance. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Kitty was preceded in death by her husband, Harold L. Washington, Sr.; son, Antonio Leroy Washington; and two daughters, Loretta Haridson and Rosina Moreno.
