Herbert F. Frymark

September 30, 1932 — November 29, 2023

Herbert Francis Frymark, 91, of Odenton, Maryland passed away on November 29, 2023.  He was the fourth child of August and Emily Frymark, born September 30, 1932, in River Forest, Illinois.

Herb graduated from Oak Park and River Forest High School in the summer of 1950, and by that same fall, he was attending Duke University in North Carolina. After 2 years at Duke, he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving honorably from 1952 – 1956 as a Machinist Mate while travelling the Mediterranean on the USS Tripoli CVE-64.

Following his military service, Herb continued his education at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in finance in 1960. It was during this time that he met Mary Ann Bychinski. On July 4, 1959, Herb married Mary Ann in her hometown of Wausau, Wisconsin at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, and then they moved to Florida.

They remained married for 63 years, and together they raised eight children.

While living in Miami, their first son was born in 1960. Soon after, Herb accepted a position as a financial analyst at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, so they moved to the Maryland suburbs in 1961, and the family kept growing with the birth of their first daughter. By 1964, he became a loan officer for the Export-Import Bank of the United States, and the father of two more sons. Eventually, his entrepreneurial spirit took over and he purchased a go-kart track in Beltsville, Maryland. Later, Herb owned and operated another small business, Bi-Rite Fuel Company from 1966-1981, as their family continued to grow with another daughter and three more sons. After Bi-Rite, Herb became a registered representative for securities transactions, an insurance agent, a real estate agent, and a property assessor for the State of Maryland.

Herb spent much of his time with his family. He was an avid outdoorsman, and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, crabbing, and camping, especially in the Florida Keys. He was a crossword puzzle expert, a political activist, and the first CYO soccer coach at St. Joseph’s Beltsville. He was a loyal fan of Chicago Cubs baseball, Chicago Bears football, and Marquette basketball.

Herbert Francis Frymark, Sr. was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Frymark (1935-2022); his father, August Aloysius Frymark (1896-1985); and his mother, Emily Catherine Victor Frymark (1898-1990). He was the younger brother to August John Frymark (1919-1992), William Bernard Frymark (1922-2017), and Joan Alice Frymark Evans (1926-2022).

He is survived by his eight children, Herbert Frymark, Jr. (Tobi), Lynn Frymark, Hugh Frymark (Pamela), Michael Frymark (Laura), Amy Hegarty (James), Christopher Frymark (Kimberly), Theodore Frymark (Catherine), and Benjamin Frymark. He is further survived by 17 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
