Gloria R. (Dolega) Lewnes

On December 22, 2014, Gloria Lewnes of Crofton passed away at the age of 86. Born on November 8, 1928, to the late Valentine and Gloria DoLega and was the sister of the late Verna Milione and Robert Carey. She graduated Bay Ridge High School in 1948. She married the late Judge George Peter Lewnes in 1955 in Athens, Greece, before relocating to Lanham, MD in 1957. As a teen, Gloria worked in the pediatric wing of New York’s United Israel Zion Hospital, now known as Maimonides, and also worked as a switchboard and long-line telephone operator for Annin Flagmakers, America’s oldest and largest flag company, New York Telephone Company, as well as Westchester Park Apartments in Greenbelt, MD. Gloria is survived by three children, Peter Lewnes of Laurel, Valerie Lewnes-Wienand of Gambrills, and Mark Lewnes of Cumberland.
