Beloved Husband, Father, Brother and Grandfather George Scerbo, passed away on January 26th in the same peaceful and wonderful manner in which he lived. Born in Newark in 1948 and raised in Orange, New Jersey,  George graduated from Vailsburg High School, after which he enlisted with the United States Navy in February of 1967. George served his Country aboard the Battleship New Jersey during the Vietnam war and was the recipient of many medals and commendations.

Upon returning home after his service, George met his future wife Elizabeth and they were married on June 2nd 1973. They resided in New Jersey and Pennsylvania prior to his eventual retirement in Odenton, Maryland. George’s professional career included working for the Pennsylvania Railroad and Conrail before becoming a Safety Inspector for the Federal Railroad Administration. George was very accomplished in his line of work, retiring at the highest promoted grade as an inspector, receiving multiple awards. After retirement, he was often called upon to be an expert witness in court cases involving railroads.

George was well-liked by many people and was always willing to help others. He loved to travel and visit friends. He was very active with the Edison Elks #2487 for many years and enjoyed the investment in the community through various programs to cultivate good fellowship.

George also loved to spend time with his family. In addition to his wife of almost 50 years Elizabeth, he is survived by: daughters Adrienne, Karen and Christine; brother William and his wife Nancy, sister Karen and her husband Robert, brother James and partner Scott and his sister-in-law, Liz. He is predeceased by his grandson Parker and brother Robert.  He also leaves cherished grandchildren Isabella, Rocco, Nicole, Megan, Ian, Ryan, Bobby and great-grandson Jonathan. George also leaves several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He will be interned at Crownsville Veteran’s Cemetery in Maryland on April 14th at 10:00 AM.
