George R. Ritmiller

On December 30, 2019, George Raymond “Ray” Ritmiller Jr. passed away at the age of 77 after a brief illness. Beloved husband of 44 years to the late Victoria “Honey” Ritmiller; devoted father of Catherine McDaniel, Mitchell Olgren, George Raymond Ritmiller III, Andrea Bryant, Justin Ritmiller, and Melissa Wisniewski; loving brother of Lila Holmes (and her husband Doug) and the late Doris A. Ritmiller; cherished grandfather of 12 and great-grandfather of one.

A child of Baltimore, Ray worked for Bethlehem Steel almost 40 years before retiring.  Ray enjoyed all things D.I.Y., the Aberdeen IronBirds, and bowling.  He was also a true aficionado of ice cream and good beer and would never turn down the opportunity to indulge in either.  Most especially though, Ray loved spending time with his family.

A constant philosopher, Ray could turn a phrase like no other and maintained his vast vocabulary and intellectual curiosity to the end.

Ray wanted us to celebrate life rather than mourn his passing.  Therefore, he asked that we remember his favorite quote: “Sing away sorrow; cast away care.”
