George Atwater Jr.

On November 4, 2017, George Atwater Jr., 80, of Severn, went home to be with the Lord.  He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Janet Laverne Atwater (nee Waddy); his mother Maxine Atwater; his children Keith Atwater (wife Kathy) of Florida, Sharon Wilson (husband Woodrow) of Florida, Ann Atwater (of Florida), Jeffrey Holmes (of Georgia), and Devera Jeter (of Maryland); his siblings Mary Rose (of Georgia), Helen Williams (husband Jimmy) of Georgia, Dorothy Bethel (husband Vincent) of Georgia, John Atwater (wife Edith) of Germany, and Harry Atwater (wife Elaine) of Georgia. He was predeceased by his father George Sr. and his brother Jimmy. George is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Born in Georgia, George has lived in Severn, Maryland, for 24 years.  He proudly served his country as a Military Policeman with the United States Army before retiring as First Sergeant.  He then worked in security for Johns Hopkins Physics Laboratory before retiring again.  Then George took a position as Project Manager for Reliable Construction.  An avid sports fan, George loved watching all sports. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and cooking wonderful meals for them.
