Listen to Obituary

George L. Alberti, Jr, 75, of Severn, MD, died Sunday, November 30, 2025 at the Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD.

George was born in Southampton, NY to G. Joyce and George Alberti. Raised in Hampton Bays, NY, George was involved in the Catholic Church and local community throughout his childhood. After graduating from Marist University, he enlisted in the United States Air Force as a Linguist where he was stationed at San Vito Air Base, Italy. George then commissioned as a Signals Intelligence Officer and was stationed at Fort Meade, MD, Osan Air Base, South Korea, and back to Fort Meade, where in 1984, George met his wife-to-be, Penny (Beanland) Alberti, where they both lived in the Bachelor Officer Quarters.

Married in December 1986, George and Penny moved to Elmendorf Air Force Base, AK where they bought their first home. The Alaska years were often reflected on with fondness and they returned often over the years. George and Penny were then stationed at Kelly Air Force Base, TX before moving to Maryland, where George was assigned to Bolling Air Force Base and, finally, Fort Meade. In 1998, George retired from the Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel. After retiring from the Air Force, George continued working in the Defense Industry both as a civilian contractor and, later, as a federal employee. Over the years, George earned Masters Degrees, first from Central Michigan University in Personnel Management, then in Systems Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University. He also completed the Post Graduate Intelligence Program at the Defense Intelligence Agency. George retired in 2017 and spent the last eight years keeping up with current events and foreign affairs, maintaining his physical fitness daily at Gaffney Fitness Center on Fort Meade, and traveling with his wife to explore the country and visit with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Penelope (Penny) Alberti, George is survived by his son, George Alberti, III (Abigail) and four grandchildren, Mary, Betty, Louisa, and George; his daughter, Ashley Alberti (Samuel); four siblings, Peter Alberti (Judy); Gail Davis (Cedric); Joanne Breckenridge (Stephen); David Alberti (Wendy); his sister-in-law, Cathy Alberti; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. George is predeceased by his parents, George Alberti, Sr and G. Joyce Alberti as well as his brother, Lawrence (Larry) Alberti.
