Flora B Carlin

Flora “Flo” Carlin, a resident of Laurel, MD, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Shanti’s Homes in Laurel, MD. She was 82. Flo was born on October 12, 1941, in Baltimore, MD, and was the daughter of the late Theodore R. Baldwin and Vearl (nee Ford) Baldwin.

Flo worked as a beautician for more than 50 years. She opened Flo’s Beauty Salon at the age of 21 in Maryland City. Flo also styled hair at several local funeral homes throughout the Baltimore-Washington region. Additionally, Flo traveled to private homes, hospitals, and nursing homes to provide hair services for people who were unable to go to salons. Flo had a passion for serving others through various leadership roles and ministries at local churches.

Flo is survived by her three beloved children, Vicki Sealock (Rick), Sherri Biesel (Jim) and Joel Carlin (Darnell); devoted sister Betty Niblett; three cherished grandchildren, Ashlee Netherton, Brandon Patterson, and Heather Biesel; five precious great-grandchildren, Preston Jackson, Khloe Evans, Jamie Patterson, Ruby Netherton and Scarlett Netherton; Flo is preceded in death by her husband, Kent, siblings, Lois, Teddy, Jimmy and cherished great-grandson, Jiovanni.

The family will receive friends at the Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., on Friday, February 23, 2024, from 2 pm to 4 pm & 7 pm to 9 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 24, at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow to Meadowridge Memorial Park, Elkridge, MD.
