We come together to celebrate the life of Ernestine Robinson, born April 20, 1920 in Abbeville, SC. She spent most of her life in New York City. That is where she acquired an adoration for the NY Yankees. She was a huge Yankees fan; some might say a Yankees fanatic. She rarely, if ever, missed a game. She loved to bowl but had to resign from her love of bowling due to declining health.
If you asked anyone about Ernestine Robinson, they'd say she was the type of person that would do anything to help her family or a friend. She was a God-fearing woman whose love for people was equal to her love for God. She adored God and always put him first. She always stressed the importance of keeping God first. Her famous quote was, "Put God first in all you do and you can't go wrong." She held that belief until her death.
Toward the end of her life she endured tremendous pain and suffering, yet she never complained and always had a smile on her face. She was always giving God the glory despite her circumstances. God, in his infinite mercy, saw how much Ernestine was suffering and decided it was time for her to come home. On Aug 7, 2012 at 9:10 pm, God appointed an end to her suffering. Ernestine was an angel on earth, a true blessing to all those who came in contact with her. She will not only be missed by her family but also by a select few individuals who had the pleasure of making her acquaintance.
Ernestine is survived by her sister, Margaret Calloway of New York City, two daughters, Rita Portillo of Laurel, MD, Sharlene Yearwood and husband Enrique of Norcross, GA, her two grandchildren, Henry Bowie, Jr. of Glen Burnie, MD, Zarrina Cabrera and husband Hector of Blackwood, NJ and her four great grandchildren, Marquita Cabrera, Miguel Cabrera, Jasmine Cabrera, and Josiah Cabrera of Blackwood, NJ.
