Ernest Mathew "Monk" Lawson

Ernest Mathew “Monk” Lawson of Odenton, MD passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at his residence, at the age of 74.  Monk was born on April 13, 1941 in Pulaski County, VA to the late Harless Thurman Lawson and Helen Louise (Henley) Lawson.

Monk is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sandy Lawson; four children, Robin O’Brien and her husband, Bob, Dee Schultz, Matthew Lawson and his wife, Alicia, and Jimmy Lawson; 10 grandchildren; one great grandchild and three sisters, Charlotte, Cookem and Ruby.  In addition to his parents Monk was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

Monk grew up in the mountains of Pulaski, Virginia, where he loved to hunt, fish and camp.   He moved to Odenton, Maryland where he met and married the love of his life. They settled in Anne Arundel County, Maryland and started their family.  Monk spent most of his adult life as a crane operator.  He was known as the smoothest operator at the crane company.  He was a dedicated husband and father.  He raised his children to love the outdoors and taught them to fish and hunt.  Monk was well known and loved by many for his fun loving personality, kindness and willingness to help others.  He will be greatly missed.

Family and Friends will gather at the Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 1411 Annapolis Road, Odenton, MD 21113 on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday, April 14, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m.  Interment will be private.
