Emilio Prencipe

In loving memory of Emilio Prencipe of Washington, D.C. and Odenton, MD., who passed away on August 16, 2026, just four days shy of his 90th birthday. Emilio was born in Bridgeport, CN, on August 20, 1936. He lived a life filled with laughter, activity, hard work, and an unwavering love for his family. He was preceded in death by his four older siblings.

The Boys Club in Washington, D.C. was a big part of Emilio's life where he learned to swim and dive, and participated in boxing and football. As a young man he continued swimming and diving at Glen Echo pool, where he became a Water Safety Instructor. After retiring he shared his love of the sport by teaching adults to swim.

Emilio proudly served in the United States Navy as a submariner on the USS Pompon spending time in the Mediterranean from 1957 to 1962. Following his military service, he attended classes at American University and began his professional career at McCall's Press. He later joined The Washington Post where he worked until his retirement.

Emilio embraced life with enthusiasm. He enjoyed dancing, swimming, tennis, hiking, bicycling, and cooking. He had a wonderful sense of humor that stayed with him until the end and had a special gift for inspiring laughter in those around him. He found great joy in spending time with his family and in participating in the Metropolitan Washington, D.C. Hand Dance Preservation Society, where he made many cherished memories and friendships.

Emilio will be lovingly remembered by his wife Carol Prencipe, daughter Vivienne Prencipe; his stepdaughter Cherish Villarreal; step grandchildren and great grandson, and his many beloved nieces, nephews and extended family members, who will cherish the memories they shared with him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations go to either the Odenton Volunteer Fire Department or the Senior Dog Sanctuary of Severn.
