Ellen Satterfield peacefully passed away in her sleep on August 23, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Ellen was born on September 18, 1931, in Wayensburg, Kentucky. She graduated from Centerville High School in Centerville, Indiana. Ellen attended Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana; where she excelled as a Cheerleader. Ellen was active in maintaining the family farm in Centerville, Indiana, where she met her future husband, Edward James Satterfield sr., while playing professional baseball for the Detroit Tigger's. Upon Edward's return from his duties in the US Army in Nuremburg, Germany, Edward and Ellen were married in Centerville, Indiana, on March 9, 1952.

Ellen and Edward moved to Baltimore, Maryland, where she obtained gainful employment with the University of Maryland Hospital, as a Medical stenographer. Ellen left University Hospital to own and manage the Stonewall Inn, on Pulaski Highway in White Marsh, Maryland.

In 1968, Ellen and Edward sold the Stonewall Inn, and established residence in Severn, Maryland. After her her third son, Ernest Satterfield, Ellen transitioned back into the Medical community as a secretary for the Skill Surgical and Medical Supply Company in Baltimore, Maryland.

Ellen left the Skill Surgical and Medical Supply Company to seek employment with the Social Security Administration in Baltimore, Maryland, where she achieved the status of Security Supervisor, assisting co-workers with sensitive information and security operations. Ellen retired from the Social Security Administration in 1998 to pursue hobbies in gardening, Caribbean cruises, and extensive travel to New Zealand. As well as enjoying Australia, Alaska, England, Whales, Ireland, Germany and European Tours. In addition to her hobbies, Ellen devoted her services to the Lord as a Sunday School Teacher and in Council of Ministries for the Glen Burnie United Methodist Church in Glen Burnie, Maryland.

Ellen was preceded in death by her loving husband, Edward James Satterfield Sr. and survived by her devoted sons; Edward James Satterfield Jr., Eugene Justin Satterfield, and Ernest Jeffery Satterfield, grandchildren; Bryan Keith Satterfield, Tyler Satterfield-Brown, Jamie Kathrine Satterfield-Livingston, Edward James Satterfield III, Eugene Justin Satterfield, Jr., Erick Joshua Satterfield, Miranda Iris Satterfield; and great grandchildren; Cole Grant Satterfield, Brennen Satterfield, Benjamin Brown, and Alexander Brown.

A Memorial Gathering will be held at Donaldson's Funeral Home, 141Annapolis RoadOdenton, Maryland 21113 on Friday, September 18, 2026 from 1pm-3pmAfter the Memorial, please join the family for further celebration at The Black Wall Barn and Lodge, 329 Gambrills Road, Gambrills, Maryland 21054.
